This week on The Arts Show Alex McCulloch chats with Anna Prifti, Wilma Tabacco and Fiona Halse about their exhibition ‘Of Colour & Light 2018′ and Portrait painter Kyle Torney.
This Biennial, curated by Anna Prifti, aims to provide a platform to women
abstract artists from the state of Victoria to show their latest works –
celebrating vibrancy and advocating relevancy to contemporary art. This
showcase of Victorian Women Abstract artists builds on and is connected
to the ‘Of Colour & Light 2016’ exhibition at Yarra Sculpture Gallery in
June 2016, with catalogue essay written by Dr Wilma Tabacco. As Dr
Elizabeth Bodey states in her catalogue essay and highlights the theme of
this show, ‘Colour and light draw us with considerable delight into an
artist’s work, inviting us to explore their intentions and delve into the
aesthetics of abstraction’. This show advocates that woman artists have
been an integral part of the Abstract movement.
